Your mama don’t dance and your daddy…..
Don’t rock and roll! Remember that one? I am guessing not everybody does but back in 1972 in was number 4 on the music charts and a hit for a band duo known as Loggins and Messina. Loggins being Kenny Loggins who would later go on to compose and perform quite a few very well known songs including “I’m Alright”, the dancing gopher song in the movie Caddyshack (for which he has earned a special place in my heart) and of course, “Danger Zone”, the hit and theme song of the 1986 movie starring Tom Cruise. I bring this up not because “Top Gun, Maverick” the movie opens today (though it does kind of relate) but because this past Sunday CBS news ran a show about all things Santa Barbara, California, hosted by Jane Pauley (who I haven’t seen on air in quite some time, not saying she isn’t, just haven’t personally seen her, also, she is married to Garry Trudeau, you know, the guy who does Doonesbury, the cartoon) and one of the interesting segments on this show was a piece on Kenny Loggins who apparently has a very nice home there in Santa Barbara. As with most artists I haven’t really thought about in sometime, I immediately had to go on Apple Music and see what songs he has done that are not currently in my song library, in this case, quite a few, and get busy downloading. As it turns out, Kenny is now 74 and still touring so more power to him and thank you for the songs, my library is caught up. Hint, hint, he also did “Footloose”. The only thing I am not sure about…where is Messina? I’ll have to look that up later.
Big week on the Pulp Improvement side of things, our new Pulp Deck project is now sporting a roof which solves a bunch of problems. One, we can now work on it rain or shine and two, it no longer leaks to underneath which happens to be the main pathway to the house garage and where we keep the most required tools readily available. Currently installing gutters for the two roofs (there is an upper and lower roof to keep in line with the rest of house, take a gander at the latest update pics on the New Pulp page, explains everything) and prepping for floor tile install. Since we are outdoors, we’ll be using a DITRA system which is pretty much a waterproofing method that is used in bathrooms, in our case, it will keep the floor tile from being affected by weather extremes (sort of like insulation). Anyway, haven’t used this stuff just yet so it will be something new!
Time to go hit it, stay tuned for updates and we’ll see you all next week!
