Moving Forward…

We launched Pulpland one week ago too much fanfare (at least here in Pulpland!), the culmination of a few months of building the website, tweaking our pages, editing content, etc., only to find out that launching a website and actually having it show up through an online search are two very separate things. Turns out it takes some time for search engines to recognize your website (in hind site, probably should have expected that, but you hit the button that says “publish” and you get all excited at the time). So you do some digging, find out there are a few ways to speed things up, put that all in motion and surprise, surprise, your pages do indeed start to show up! Not completely out of the woods yet, but we are moving full speed ahead. With that said, here’s what was happening this week in Pulpland:

Spending much time concentrating on Pulpmuzic. We are currently deep into 3 new songs (“Reach For the Sky”, “Nothing at All” and “The Way You See it”). Been using the magic of the web to share music files via Garageband with my collaborators, which has been a very unique yet fun experience, essentially adding each our parts while never being in the same room together!

A few weeks ago, we released “Innocent”, the first song done under this new system, and now it is time to make a video for it (got to have a video if you want to really put it out there). I had an idea of what I wanted to do and it involved using green screen technology, of which, I had absolutely no experience, but let me tell you, what a blast! It works like a charm (I am using the iMovie program on my Mac) and once you figure out some of the small details of where to land things and how to make adjustments, wow, just so cool. Did about 5 video takes in front of the green screen, picked the best one, loaded onto computer and then followed the instructions on the iMovie help page and just like that, we had a video. The first time I played it back I almost fell out my chair laughing at the site of myself superimposed on a previously recorded video! It is a game changer for sure and stay tuned, we are editing the video now and should have finished version out in near future.

Since we are having such a good time doing the video thing, plans are to begin the “Making of the Pulp Greenhouse” step by step series starting next week. If you haven’t seen the video of the overall project, pop over to our Pulp Improvements page and click on the link provided.

And last but far from least, a message from Zoe (I am a good kitty):

“I do so enjoy the holiday season, my humans have put up many decorations just for me! There are these small tree like objects on the tables which I like to use as scratching poles, I am fascinated by the little box that makes clicking noises and turns the little lights on and then there is a big tree that has all kinds of things hanging from it that I can swipe at and knock to the ground to play with. Yay!”

See y’all next week!
