Here We Go Again….

Keeping it short this week as impending winter freeze is upon us! Mind you, it had been in the 70’s and 80’s the past two weeks so deep into a Pulpland outdoor spring clean and things are really starting to look good. The extended forecast started getting gloomy late last week, however, since they seem to be getting it fairly wrong so often, kind of took it with a grain of salt. Looks like the real deal this time and we are now expecting to be in frozen conditions for the good part of the next week. While this is completely normal in many places, it is extremely rare here. Many low temp records to be challenged and the overall affect on all things both inside and outside are yet to be seen. Predictions are calling for power outages, water line breaks and of course, horrendous driving conditions, which, unfortunately, doesn’t bade well for drivers down here as they just do not have any experience driving in winter conditions. And the poor plants, not sure even the plant blankets are going to do the trick. Did I mention that it might snow 4-5 inches on Monday as well? Surely this will be something to be seen!

On a bright note, looks like Hootie is hunkering down and ready to take on whatever this polar vortex brings with it. Spent the entire day yesterday in his favorite tree with freezing rain coming down and forming icicles on the branches around him. Plus, he had to deal with a trove of Blue Jays who decided to fly in close just to heckle him (and alert others that there is a big Owl in the tree). Hootie is one cool customer, Go Hootie!

Some new pics of Hootie, Big Blue, said mentioned icicles in trees and of course, Ms. Zoe, on the New Pulp page so please feel free to check them out!

Bundling up now and heading outside for “freeze protection” mode. You all be safe and careful while this super cold front rolls through. Until next week….
