Does it count if…..
One of the three wasn’t really a known musician? What am I referring to you ask? Well, you know the saying, death comes in 3’s, right? So yesterday, David Crosby passed away, member of Crosby, Stills and Nash (CSN), member of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (CSNY), and a founding member of The Byrds (There is a season, Turn, Turn, Turn), with two of the three bands being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (believe CSN is in and not CSNY, or vice versa). Quick side note, there was also an English band named The Birds which had a few well knowns in it as well, look it up! Anyway, Mr. Crosby had a very splendid and harmonious voice, may or may not have been very well liked (leaning towards the “may not” from some of the things I am hearing), survived a liver transplant (quite controversial at the time as he had a pretty well known history of drug and alcohol abuse), and of all things, ended up donating sperm to Melissa Etheridge and is technically the father to her children. If anything, he was definitely interesting.
Earlier this month, the great guitar player, Jeff Beck passed away. Believe he was voted (Rolling Stone magazine thing, but not exactly sure the criteria used) one of the top 5 best guitar players ever, which says a lot. He was also a member of the Yardbirds taking over after Eric Clapton had left the band and there during the height of their success. Later the Jeff Beck Group which had Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood (you get the point, big names and quite a big part of the great Rock and Roll Tree). I must admit, not actually a big fan after that point, I am just more fond of bands that feature really good songs than I am of really great guitar playing, but huge props to him regardless.
And this brings me to my 3 question. Last week saw the passing of Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of one Elvis Aaron Presley, you know…”the King, thank you very much”! Rock and Roll royalty for sure, married to Micheal Jackson at one point and most recent owner and caretaker of Graceland, the King’s famous home. And then I found out she had actually put out a few music albums (I swear, I did not know this), had performed live on the Today show at least once and sounds as if she did the touring thing and all which definitely qualifies her as a musician. So my question to you all…does it count as a 3 or are we just waiting for one more? Think about it!
I mentioned last week VSD, ventricular septal defect, and it appears that I have that (a hole in the heart septum). Still waiting on details and next steps so stay tuned. The good news is that it is fixable and there is no current need to “take it easy” so we’ll just keep moving forward with all of our plans and projects. See you next week!
