Hazy, Hot and…..

Yup, humid! Getting a little preview of summer this week with temps up in the mid 90’s and feels like temps more like the triple digits. Guess it could be worse, suppose to hit 116 degrees in Las Vegas today. I do love when they like to mention that it is a “dry” heat…so not extremely humid! Believe you can cook eggs on a rock outside at 116, so humid or not, that’s pretty much oven temperature for humans. That said, sounds like a good time for working on the patio leveling project (Not)! But we’re doing it anyway. As we’ve talked about in an earlier blog, timing is everything, and as luck would have it, the tree trimming folks were available today, so, thus the need for getting a few steps ahead of them. Let me back it up a notch, new Pulpland came complete with a very beautiful brick patio, however, the center piece of the patio was what I am sure used to be a small Ginkgo tree. The Ginkgo tree is no longer small. And neither are it’s roots that have essentially lifted the very nice and guessing formerly flat brick patio up into the air in about 10 places creating something akin to a mini skateboard park and/or simply an accident waiting to happen, as it was somewhat treacherous just walking from one side to the other. Not at all conducive to being a nice hangout and impossible to even set up a patio table with chairs. I should mention that the roots are working their way under the house foundation as well, so, no real options here other than the tree has to go. So does the stump and the roots if we are going to make this thing work and thus, the need to be one step ahead of the tree trimmers. What does that mean you ask? Well, pretty much removing all of the bricks from said brick patio so we can get to everything that needs to be yanked out removed. When I am talking bricks, I mean the little red ones that are about 8” long by 4” wide by 2” thick. Hundreds and hundreds of them. Pretty much a couple at a time as they were very tightly packed and required a bit of persuasion to come up. Then moving them to a place that is out of the way and neatly stacking them there so will be ready to go when the re-install begins. Did I mention it was hot outside? Certainly a good work out and believe I have accomplished all of my exercise needs for the week, thank you. And my back hurts!

Elsewhere in Pulpland we have started prep work on the new Pulp Gameroom. Carpet out, floor patching complete and just waiting on our next batch of LVT flooring so we can get that knocked out. Bought a pool table from a friend of a friend and that will be the centerpiece of this room. Seems there is quite a lot of work to do in moving a pool table, going to leave that one to the experts and in the end, move and re-install is going to cost more than was actually paid for the pool table! Should be really cool, though, when all said and done, and will finally be able to put those pool cues I’ve had for years to use. Couple progress pics of this and the patio work on the New Pulp and Pulp Improvements pages so check them out when you can.

Back in the recording studio (found a good place to set up the new condenser microphone) and working on the vocals for “Reach For The Sky” plus taking another stab at “Nothing at All” just to see what the new microphone can do (sort of like test driving a car)!

All for now and see you next week!
