And just like that……
She was gone. I regret to inform you all and with much sadness in our hearts, our beloved little Zoe (I am a good kitty) passed away on Sept. 3, 2022. She seemed to be having a good day up till that point and it all happened very suddenly, which we were very grateful for, in the comfort of her (and our) home, New Pulpland. Noticed I mentioned “her home” first as that was clearly what it was, she being kind enough to let us stay here as well! Of course that privilege did come with some responsibilities, early morning wake ups for the morning brushing, followed by breakfast and fresh water glasses (remember, she only drank out of people glasses), followed by the cleaning of the litter boxes, followed by nap (which meant you needed to be quiet), followed by afternoon wake up and more brushing, some more nugget snacks and then afternoon nap, followed by family TV night (more nap) and then pretty much sleep for us and repeat the next day. That was our Zoe and she was our friend, we miss her tremendously.
Ms. Zoe, as I sometimes like to refer to her, came to us from a relative of a co-worker who was either moving or could no longer take care of her, so pretty much an adoption for us. Best as we can tell she was already around 11 years old at that point so guessing she would be about 16 or 17 now, so a pretty good run in cat years. You could kind of tell she was starting to feel the age a bit more lately, some missteps going up stairs, the occasional slip while walking along to top of the couch edge, not doing as many sprints around the house as she used to do (especially after going potty), you know, just getting old as they like to say. A couple years ago she had come down with an internal infection and got really, really sick and we weren’t sure if she was going to make it through that (Vet said she had some sort of internal infection) but then, low and behold, one day she just woke up in the morning and was pretty much back to normal, scare was over. This time was nothing like that so as far as we can tell she went out on her own terms.
All of this said, we did mention in an earlier blog that she was working on her memoirs, and I am happy to report that I have collected all of her notes and believe I can put it all together in a way that she would approve of. It’s mostly a picture book with descriptions of what she was thinking at the time (don’t forget her fairly Presidential bid in 2000, the one where she decided to run the day before the election) and basically her going through her very busy days in between naps. A fascinating read for sure!
Zoe’s page on this site will live on and we’ll keep you posted with any news about her book. Peace for now!
