A tip of the hat to….

The Golden State Warriors, this year’s NBA Basketball Champions! I believe I have mentioned previously (ahem) that I am a pretty big sports fan. I also believe that I have mentioned that I am originally from New York and for that reason, contractually bound to be a fan of the New York sports teams. That’s all sports, not just the 27 time champion New York Yankees mind you (which are always nice to have as a go to, and they are looking quite spectacular this year as well, so, just saying). Also, something else to note, New York pretty much has two professional teams for each major sport and it is pretty much a rule that you have to favor one team over the other (this sometimes enters into hatred for many, for me, more of just a first and distant second thing). While abiding by that rule, it is also acceptable to root for the least favorite of those teams when your main go to team fails to make it to the playoffs, if you do, in fact, not exactly hate that other team. Yes, guilting the lily for sure, but it is just how it goes when you live in a big city that has that many teams. Case in point, I am, unfortunately, a football NY Jets fan, who miraculously won the Super Bowl for the 1969 season and have done pretty much nothing since (unless you count ruining athletes careers, especially quarterbacks, in which case, they have done plenty). So knowing that the Jets are going to suck every year, I have allowed myself to root for the New York Giants on the last few occasions that they have gone on to and won the Super Bowl. And that is okay by my rules. Of course, both teams actually play and reside in New Jersey, which is a whole different problem, but the names remain the same. Not sure I can extend this theory to covering Buffalo (they are pretty good these days) but we’ll see when the time comes!

Anyway, in basketball, I am a life long NY Knicks fan. Yup, I said it. For those not aware, the Knicks are pretty much like the Jets, they both suck! The Knicks also having gone decades without winning a championship and year in and year out playing so badly that it is almost too hard to comprehend. You see, I believe, they are one of the most valuable franchises in sports, have a ton of money they can spend and let’s face it, New York is a pretty good destination for an athlete (unless you are a football player, then see above). But you take one look at their roster and you instantly start asking, “who is that?” Seems most just don’t want to be there, at least most of the great players which would bring one to ask…why? Well, the answer is management and when you have really, really bad management, your company (or team) fails. And that is the New York Knicks in a nutshell.

So kudos to the Warriors, they outdid themselves and did a wonderful job of outplaying and out-coaching a much younger, taller, stronger team (the Boston Celtics) and answering the age old question, how did they do it? (Answer: THEY SCORED MORE POINTS)!!

Back to the Pulp Deck, update pics on the New Pulp page and we are now onto the staircase construction. See you all next week!
