National What Day…..

So, as it turns out, today is National Donut Day, which apparently is quite the big deal in some places (including here)! Who knew. I suppose if you have a donut shop it must truly be a very big deal and something you have marked on your calendar at the beginning of each and every new year. Local news has been reporting about it for the last week and today’s report featured multiple live feeds from the “original” donut shop here in town where they were amping up production and giving away free stuff (I’m told they make a very fine donut). Pretty cool and I say “Cheers” to National Donut Day, go out and get one while you can!

Which brought me to thinking, most days seem to have some kind of “National” day associated with them (that they are representing for) so my big question….who does the “official” National day naming and how does that process work? Is it like a committee or is there just one supreme National day naming person who has been gifted that title and is so trusted that their judgement and wisdom go without question? Food for thought and I suppose I’ll need to do some research on that one as I am sure National Inquiry Day is right around the corner and I certainly have a lot of questions!
